Andrew Bartkowski

His life long adventure with tourism began with early student years. For a long time he worked as a tour leader and was in charge of organizing and managing large projects as mediterranean cruises. Experience that he gained from this period: handling multiple tasks, working with large number of people and solving problems was essential in his later career. After the fall of communism in Poland in 1990, Andrew and his two partners founded their own private business – Mazurkas Travel Agency, although his original concept was rather to establish a large restaurant with Folklore performances. Over the years Mazurkas Travel has grown and successfully expanded its operation in all areas of incoming tourism. Andrew’s major achievement was construction of own hotel and ultra modern conference center. This is where his original ideas came true and all kinds events are realized at Mazurkas Conference Center :conferences, concerts, gala dinners and folklore shows as well. Andrew is proud of the fact that he personally co-designed this venue and many of his architectural and technical solutions were utilized. Andrew never stops. He has some new ideas for company’s expansion in mind. His wife Irena has worked in tourism also and now she is a board member at Mazurkas Travel. They have 2 daughters: Karina and Karolina and two lovely grandchildren. Andrew is interested in French culture, he writes poems. He enjoys spending vacations in hot beaches of Northern Africa.

Andrew founded Mazurkas Travel with two partners in 1990 soon after the collapse of comunism in Poland, when the historical changes of system came. Initially their intention was to service music lovers visiting Poland, so they named their agency after Chopin’s mazurkas. Over the years, step by step the company expanded its operations from leisure to incentives, transportation, congresess and conferences and finally to hotel, conference center and catering service. Now Mazurkas Travel is largest private own company in tourism sector in Poland and a „success story”. The company operates in all aspects of tourism: MICE, FIT, leisure and employs 60 people in incoming department, 35 in transportation and 110 in hotel and catering. Andrew says: „Tourism is a challenge and a lifetime adventure for me. Poland is not an easy product to sell, not the most popular destination. It actually takes artistic skills and creativity to sell Poland”.
